The genome of Yarrowia hollandica strain CBS 4855 has been sequenced using Illumina Solexa technology with a shot-gun library and a mate pair library of 8 kb in average. The raw reads were trimmed with Trimmomatic and cutadapt. The assembly was done using SOAPdenovo2 with a kmer of 81. Two successive runs of GapCloser were used to close gaps. The current draft genome sequence is composed of 18 scaffolds larger than 5 kb (17 nuclear and a mitochondrial one), for a total size of the nuclear DNA of 20,021,922 bp with an N50 of 3,454,705 bp (3 scaffolds) and a G+C content of 48.1%. Annotation of protein-coding genes was performed using the Amadea Annotation transfer tool (Isoft, France), with Yarrowia lipolytica genome as reference. The structural annotation of these genes was manually curated using RNA-Seq data and other genetic elements (tRNA and transposable elements) were expertly added.
