2021 China Institute for Educational Finance Research-Household Survey, CIEFR-HS

China Institute for Educational Finance Research-Household Survey (CIEFR-HS) is conducted by China Institute for Educational Finance Research aiming to collect information related to household educational expenditures and promote interdisciplinary research on education finance issues. The survey employs a stratified three-stage probability proportion to size random sample design. The 2017 wave covered 29 provinces, 355 cities/districts/counties, and 40,011 households nationwide, with a total sample size of 21,000 students from kindergarten to higher education. The 2017 wave collected detailed information on K12 students’ educational opportunities, government subsidies, and detailed household education expenditures. The 2019 wave covered 29 provinces, 345 cities/districts/counties, and 34,643 households, with a total sample size of 18,000 students from kindergarten to higher education. The 2021 wave covered 29 provinces, 269 cities/districts/counties, and 22,027 households, with 14,000 students from kindergarten to higher education.
