资源简介:
The study for which these data were collected investigated dominance in captive painted turtles. The hypothesis was that these turtles would should consistent behavior over time and a dominance hierarchy. The study confirmed both of these hyotheses.
The data are in the form of two Excel files, one for the data on collected in the Fall and another for data collected in the Spring. We measured two behaviors while they were feeding: mounting, defined as placing a claw or head above the carapace of the other turtle for at least one second, where the mounter was stationary, and biting, defined as snapping at another turtle. The data files show these numbers over 25 weeks. For most of each student, the group contained 5 turtles, but for the last six days, we added a sixth turtle.
