Exploring the Link Between a Prior for Active Avoidance and Apathy, Anhedonia, and Depression: A Network Analysis Author: Tobias Granwald (orcid: 0009-0002-0208-6891) The folder contains the extracted data used in the analysis with the manuscript "Exploring the Link Between a Prior for Active Avoidance and Apathy, Anhedonia, and Depression: A Network Analysis" (Granwald et al., 2025a). extracted_data_networkPriors.csv is the the extracted data used in the analysis in the manuscript. The following changes has been made in this file compared to the raw data files beyond putting all the data in to a single file: - Participant IDs have been anonymized by removing participant's prolific IDs and instead adding a numbers 1001 to 1279 for the first sample and 2001 to 2249 for the second sample. - Participant's responses in the PHQ-9 (Kroenke et al., 2001), CES-D (Radloff, 1977), SDS (Zung, 1965), BIS/BAS (Carver & White, 1994), AMI (Ang et al., 2017), and SHAPS (Snaith et al., 1995) have been extracted and placed in each item response has been placed in its own collumn. - Demographic data extracted from Prolific has been added as separate rows in the data. - Instead of the complete choice data, the mean of each participants prior extracted from the fitted Bayesian learner model and added as a collumn. - The number of failed attention checks in the questionnaires have been extracted and summed for each partcipant, this has been added as a collumn. extracted_data_networkPriors.csv contains the following collumns of data: - age (integer, the "Age" variable extracted from the demographic data provided by prolific.com age in years) - sex (string, the "Sex" variable extracted from the demographic data provided by prolific.com, male = "Male" and female = "Female") - nationality (string, "Nationality" variable extracted from the demographic data provided by prolific.com) - subjID (integer, anonomized participant IDs, 1001 to 1279 for the first sample and 2001 to 2249 for the second sample) - PHQ_1 to PHQ_9 (integer, item-by-item responses to the Patient Health Questionnaire: 9 (Kroenke et al., 2001)) - CESD_1 to CESD_20 (integer, item-by-item responses to the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (Radloff, 1977)) - SDS_1 to SDS_20 (integer, item-by-item responses to the Zung Self-Rating Depression Scale (Zung, 1965)) - BIS_BAS_1 to BIS_BAS_24 (integer, item-by-item responses to the BIS/BAS scales (Carver & White, 1994)) - AMI_1 to AMI_18 (integer, item-by-item responses to the Apathy and motivation index (Ang et al., 2017)) - SHPS_1 to SHPS_14 (integer, item-by-item responses to the Snaith-Hamilton Pleasure Scale) - muAll (decimal, the mean of the prior derived from modeling the participants choice data with the best fitting Bayesian Learner model from Granwald et al., (2025b)) - AC_fails (integer, number of failed attention checks the participant had in the questionnaires (0 to 6), if more than 2 participants were excluded) The task was programmed by Tobias Granwald at Karolinska Institutet utilizing JavaScript, html and css to ensure that data can be collected online, it also uses the toolbox: jsPsych v 7.1.0 (de Leeuw, 2015).
