Metagenomic analysis of an Arctic soil profile. soil metagenome

This is a metagenomic study of the microbial community in an Arctic peat soil profile from a medium-aged drained thaw-lake basin near Barrow, Alaska. Four metagenomic libraries were constructed representing depths of 0-10, 10-20, 20-30 and 30-40 cm. The main goal of this work was to analyze the anaerobic respiratory pathways in this soil, with particular emphasis on microorganisms capable of reducing iron and humic substances in anaerobic respiration.
