Open Sesame storage modelling test data set - wind speeds
收藏资源简介:
This data set contains wind speed time series at specific locations from three data sources that can be used as a basis for storage or energy system modelling. The three data sources differ in their spatial resolution: from pin-point (weather observations stations) to reanalysis data on a 31 km x 31 km grid, and in between data on a 1km x 1km grid, generated for the Sesame Seed project. The raw data have to be converted to power generation profiles to use them as input for storage or energy system modelling. Then, the data from the different sources can be compared and provide insight into the impact of different spatial scales on storage model results. Sources: ERA5, downscaled ERA5, observation stations Spatial resolution: 31km x 31km, 1km x 1km, pin-point Spatial coverage: Meteoswiss weather observation stations distributed across Switzerland. Temporal resolution: 1 h Temporal coverage: 2017 - 2019 Downscaling method: see Hu, Wenxuan, et al. (2023): Downscaling ERA5 wind speed data: a machine learning approach considering topographic influences. https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/1748-9326/aceb0a/meta Power generation profiles may be derived by selecting a wind turbine power curve, applying it to the wind speed time series and multiplying the result by factors accounting for losses and turbine availability.
