The dark ocean microbial dynamics are fundamental to understand ocean ecosystem processes. However, how deep prokaryotic communities respond to environmental changes is largely unknown. The aim of the study is to assess the temporal and spatial dynamics of the deep prokaryotic communities of the western Mediterranean Sea. The results show relevant changes in community composition and the resilient capability of the deep communities in different water masses.
