We have studied P-element invasion in Drosophila erecta population using an experimental evolution approach. We introduced canonical P-element into an inbred strain of D. erecta 01 and maintained them in the lab as three replicated populations. Later, we investigated how the P-element spreads in the experimental populations by sequencing the flies' DNA, RNA and small RNA at many time points during its evolution in the lab.
