Stable isotope data from 73 tree and shrub species in a common garden in Basel Switzerland

This dataset contains hydrogen and carbon isotope data from 73 tree and shrub species grown in a common garden (Kannenfeldpark) in Basel, Switzerland. Leaf and twig samples were collected in August 2020. The isotope measurements cover various organic compounds, including sugars, cellulose, and (lignin) methoxy groups, as well as leaf and twig xylem water. Details on sample preparation and isotope analysis are provided in Schuler et al. (2023) for carbohydrates and water, and in Wieland et al. (in review) for methoxy groups.
