Meteorite strikes

This dataset shows the recorded meteorite strikes on Earth. Things to note are that the dataset only shows the strikes that we know about through either first-hand observations, historical accounts and from physical evidence. There is a clear bias for densly populate, developed countries where research is generally focused (Europe/America), but you may also note the high numbers of impacts in desert areas where evidence is generally undisturbed (Australia, Gulf States). There is an obvious sparsity of data over the oceans where only the largest impacts will leave any trace. The dataset was sourced from the Guardian Website (http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/datablog/interactive/2013/feb/15/meteorite-fall-map) but originates from the Meteoritical Society (http://www.lpi.usra.edu/meteor/metbull.php). Please attribute the Meteoritical Society as the source when re-using this data. GIS vector data.
