A Water Age Perspective on Expansion of Pearl River Diluted Waters in Summer

This repository consists of 10 components: code_for_summer_plot.mat: Codes for figure plot. EPD_data.zip: Contains the original in situ observational data provided by the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) of Hong Kong. Grid_volume.mat: Includes the ROMS model domain files and the corresponding plume-related grid volume data. Obs_SST_SSS.mat: Contains observational surface datasets, including sea surface temperature (SST) from the NOAA Global Coral Bleaching Monitoring dataset (NOAA Coral Reef Program) for the period 1994–2018, and sea surface salinity (SSS) from the 5th-generation JPL and RSS 8-day averaged SMAP Level-3 products. ROMS_bvf_Ro.zip: Includes the Brunt–Väisälä frequency (BVF) and Rossby number datasets used for the figure plots. ROMS_Freshwater_Flux.mat: Contains the vertical freshwater flux data derived from the ROMS simulations. ROMS_output_Mean_Age.mat: Includes the mean water age data for all model experiments. ROMS_output_Tracer_C.mat: Contains the tracer concentration data for all model experiments. ROMS_output_TSUVW_mean.mat: Contains the ROMS model grid information (lon_rho, lat_rho, depth, depth_w) as well as the mean fields of sea surface temperature, salinity, and the three-dimensional velocity components (U, V, and W). wind_climate.mat: Includes the climatological mean wind data used in the analysis.
