Dîwân-i-Shifâ’i (ديوان شفائى).

A part of the complete poetical works of Ḥakîm Sharaf-aldîn Ḥasan Shifâ’î of Iṣfahân, who was the chief physician of Shâh ‘Abbâs the Great, and died, according to most tadhkiras, A.H. 1037, the 5th of Ramaḍân (A.D. 1628, May 9), see Safînah, No. 596 (col. 231 in the Bodleian Cat.); Âtashkada, No. 392 (ib., col. 276); Khulâṣat-alkalâm, No. 38 (ib., col. 298); Khulâṣat-alafkâr, No. 147 (ib., col. 307); Makhzan-algharâ’ib, No. 1189 (ib., col. 341); Bodleian Cat., No. 1093; W. 1.A mathnawî in imitation of Khâḳânî’s تحفة العراقين (see Nos. 950-960 in this Cat), styled here, on fol. 1a, مطلع الانوار ; it is mentioned in the Makhzan-algharâ’ib, loc. cit. Beginning, on fol. 1b:

اى درد تو تحفة العراقين – وى زهر تو شكّر مذاقين

2.Another mathnawî, identical with the نمكدان حقيقت, or the salt-box of verity, on fol. 12b, beginning:

اى بشهد سخن ملاحت ساى – بنمكزار طرز راهنماى

3.Miscellancous poems, mostly of a satirical character, consisting, as it appears, of tarkîbbands (according to W. Pertsch, loc. cit., ghazals, but there is clearly between every two ghazals a refrain-bait), with a few ḳiṭ’as and rubâ’îs at the end, beginning, on fol. 69b:

مؤمن هَلَلُم بازئ چملان بكجا رفت

پاکارئ صد در صد كرمان بكجا رفت

This bait is quoted in Vullers, Lexicon Persicum, i. p. 590b, as beginning of a satire on the wazîr Muḥammad Mu’min, and again ii. p. 1463b, under هَلَه لُم . In Rieu ii. p. 822, another satire of Shifâ’î, the سيزده بند, is noticed.
