The draft genome sequences of five strains isolated from the InSight spacecraft and associated surfaces.. Priestia megaterium

The Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy, and Heat Transport (InSight) spacecraft was launched in May of 2017, to explore the interior structure of Mars using the Heat Flow and Physical Properties Probe (HP3) and the Seismic Experiment for Interior Structure (SEIS) instruments. Being classified as a planetary protection (PP) sensitive mission, microbial cleanliness requirements were imposed on the InSight mission. As a part of routine PP sampling, eight strains belonging to Bacillus megaterium clade were isolated from the InSight Spacecraft and associated surfaces.
