Set of satDNA consensus sequences of Allium cepa and Allium fistulosum

This dataset contains the most complete collection of satellite DNA (satDNA) consensus sequences to date for two economically important Allium species: Allium cepa (onion) and Allium fistulosum (bunching onion). Using an ensemble bioinformatics approach applied to high-quality reference genome assemblies, we identified 83 satDNA families in A. cepa and 97 in A. fistulosum. The collection includes both previously characterized repeats and 128 novel species-specific families. The data are provided as FASTA files containing the consensus monomer sequences for each species. These libraries serve as a foundational resource for cytogenetic marker development, genome evolution studies, and the improvement of genome assembly annotations in these large, repeat-rich genomes.
