In this study, we used sublytic Atp4a knock-out mice fed ethanol or a non-alcoholic isocaloric diet to determine the influence of intestinal pH on the composition of the gut microbiome as well as clinical symptoms of liver disease. The gut microbiome composition was assessed via sequencing the V1-V3 region of the 16S rRNA gene.
