To characterize the effects of dietary tannic acid on the abundance and diversity of cecal microbes, 17 adult Brandt’s voles were assigned to 3 groups, where they were continuously fed with commercial rodent diet supplemented with 0%, 3%, and 6% tannic acid for three weeks. The cecal content of each animal was collected for DNA extraction and high throughput sequencing was used to examine the cecal microbiota of Brandt’s voles fed with different concentrations of tannic acid.
