资源简介:
Photograph of a line of about eleven dancing priests chanting a prayer in the Hopi Snake Dance Ceremony and a huge crowd of onlookers, Oraibi, Arizona, ca.1898. The dancers have long hair. They wear armbands and necklaces and hold feathers. Their upper torsos are naked. They wear short patterned skirts and moccasins. Another priest moves along the line in front of them as they chant a prayer in front of a snake Kiva or Kisi. Numerous onlookers are spectating from atop the pueblo in the background as well as on the ground.
