Baboon Genotyping-by-Sequencing (GbS)

Genotyping-by-sequencing (GbS) is a high-throughput sequencing approach that provides an efficient reduced representation method for whole genome SNP detection in complex genomes. In this study, we have optimized the GbS approach to gain additional genomic information for baboon, which is a widely used animal model in biomedical research. The set of SNP markers identified in this study will be useful for marker assisted breeding for important traits in the baboon model and for fine mapping within chosen QTL confidence intervals to identify candidate genes that affect a range of phenotypes that impact human health and disease.
