A Curated Human Glycosylation Gene Set: Multi-Database Integration and Functional Annotation for Glycobiology Research

A high-confidence, manually curated gene set of human (Homo sapiens) glycosylation-related protein-coding genes, assembled from five independent public databases through a systematic multi-source integration workflow. Primary dataset: 185 core curated genes — defined by dual inclusion criteria: (1) Multi-database evidence: supported by ≥2 independent databases out of five queried (literature curation, KEGG, Reactome, Gene Ontology, UniProt Swiss-Prot). (2) Functional annotation: assigned to one of seven validated functional subcategories (glycosyltransferases, glycoside hydrolases, nucleotide sugar synthases/epimerases, nucleotide sugar transporters, lectins/glycan-binding proteins, GPI anchor biosynthesis, ER processing/chaperones). An extended comprehensive set of 969 genes (including single-database-supported entries) is also provided for reference. This gene set was developed as a foundational resource for transcriptomic studies of glycosylation pathways in reproductive biology, including recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA) and preeclampsia (PE). Data sources: Literature review, KEGG Pathway (13 pathways), Reactome (4 pathways), Gene Ontology via QuickGO (7 terms), UniProt Swiss-Prot. All database accesses performed on 2026-06-01.
