Maternal immune activation during the mid-lactational period affects nutritional milk quality and adolescent offspring sensory processing in male and female rats

It was our goal to discern the effects of maternal immune activation on quality of mRNA in milk from Sprague-Dawley rat mothers. Sprague-Dawley rats mothers were injected with either lipolysaccharide to induce an immune response or a saline vehicle on postnatal day 10. Maternal milk samples were collected 2- and 24-hours post-injection to assess mRNA quality.
