Nontuberculous mycobacteria persistence in a cell model mimicking alveolar macrophages

This project aims at studying the Nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) persistence in a cell model mimicking alveolar macrophages. Whole-genome sequencing was performed in order to search for genomic regions that are differentially present in the same-species reference and clinical isolates and to characterize the repertoire of genes associated with virulence and antibiotic resistance for the following strains: Mycobacterium smegmatis mc2/155 (reference strain), Mycobacterium avium ATCC25921 (reference strain), M. avium 60/08 (clinical strain), Mycobacterium fortuitum ATCC6841 (reference strain) and M. fortuitum 747/08 (clinical strain).
