Soils collected from a corn-rye-soybean rotational cropping study were used to investigate the influence of rye (Secale cereale) cover crop management on agricultural soil microbial composition. Four treatments (three termination times and a no rye control) were applied in a randomized complete block design and sampled at four timepoints. Following DNA isolation, PCR amplification of 16S-V4 and ITS2 ribosomal regions were sequenced by Illumina MiSeq.
