Expression profile of clinical isolated Cryptococcus gattii strains

C. gattii is a fungal pathogen threats human lives through inducing meningitis. As a major class of antifungal drug for C. gattii treatment but multiple mechanisms resulted in rapid emergence of resistance to azoles. Evidences showed that subtypes of C. gattii respond differently to azoles but the mechanism is largely elusive. Here, we found that azoles are more effective for clinically isolated VGI strains in comparison to clinically isolated VGII strains. RNA of each strains was isolated and sequenced to understand the difference in antifungal susceptibility of different C. gattii subtypes. Our data showed that genes related to transporter activities are differentially expressed between VGI and VGII strains.
