资源简介:

The presented porcelain pharmacy vessel comes from a porcelain factory in Korets – a town in Volhynia. In the central part of the vessel's body, on a cream background, there is a black italicised inscription: Tutia (praeparata), i.e. zinc oxide with an admixture of silica and clay. This preparation was used externally as an ophthalmic medicine and an astringent for wounds and burns. It was also a component of tablets and pills intended for internal use and recommended for the treatment of epilepsy. The mentioned object is one of 12 porcelain pharmacy vessels created in the Korets manufactory in the 1820s, which have been preserved in Polish museums.
