Radionuclide (²¹⁰Pb, ¹³⁷Cs, ⁴⁰K), physical (DBD), and geochemical (TC, TOC, TIC, δ¹³C) data from ten marine sediment cores collected in fjords of South Georgia, sub-Antarctica
收藏资源简介:
This dataset provides the full supplementary data accompanying the manuscript:Szczuciński, W., & Majewski, W. (2026): Organic carbon burial and sediment accumulation in the fjords of South Georgia, sub-Antarctica. The Holocene https://doi.org/10.1177/095968362614222. The Excel file contains raw analytical and core-metadata records for ten sediment cores collected from fjords of South Georgia (sub-Antarctica). These data form the basis for the radiometric dating, mass accumulation rate (MAR) calculations, and organic carbon burial assessments presented in the manuscript. The workbook includes multiple sheets, each containing structured data on: 1. Core metadata. For each core, the following information is provided: geographic location (latitude, longitude), water depth at the sampling site, core length, core code/station ID, and fjord/bay name. These metadata correspond to Table 1 in the associated manuscript. 2. Radionuclide activities and uncertainties. For each depth-increment sample in each core, the following measurements are given: sample depth (cm), mid-depth (cm), laboratory sample number, total ²¹⁰Pb activity (Bq/kg) + uncertainty, supported ²¹⁰Pb (²¹⁰Pbsupp) + uncertainty, excess ²¹⁰Pb (²¹⁰Pbex) + uncertainty, and ⁴⁰K activity + uncertainty. These data were generated using high-resolution gamma spectrometry following the procedures described in the manuscript and in Szczuciński et al. (2013). 3. Physical and geochemical properties. For the same samples, the following measurements are provided:DBD – dry bulk density (g/cm³),TOC – total organic carbon (%),TC – total carbon (%),TIC – total inorganic carbon (%),δ¹³C – stable carbon isotope composition (‰ VPDB).The analytical methods follow Racka et al. (2010), Majewski et al. (2023), and the procedures described in the Methods section of the manuscript. File format:Microsoft Excel workbook (.xlsx). Each core is provided as a separate sheet; one additional sheet contains core metadata.
