While intrathymic self-ligands have well-characterized roles inshaping the αβ-T cell receptor (TCR) repertoire, the role of selfligandsin shaping the γδ-TCR repertoire remains unknown.Ablation of the only known γδ-T cell selecting ligands, H2-T10/22, impaired the commitment of progenitors to the γδ-T lineageand also profoundly altered the γδ-T cell repertoire, reducingCDR3δ charge and length and depleting the critical EGYELbinding motif. γδ-T cell selecting ligands, therefore, play acrucial role in influencing the repertoire of at least some subsetsof γδ-T cells.
