The aim is to collect general information about 3AR Listeners, including their program preferences on that station, their television viewing habits, their pastimes etc. The aim of the survey was to use this information to build up a profile of 3AR listeners for programming purposes. Topics covered include: radio listening habits; radio stations listened to in the last seven days; stations listened to for news; other 3AR programme types to which the respondent listens; segment of the day during which the respondent listens to 3AR; 3AR programmes to which the respondent listens, comments about these programmes and which programmes should be continued or discontinued if the A.B.C. decided to cut down its programming; type and location of radios owned; particular types of programmes that the respondent likes to hear on FM radio; television viewing habits; television programmes watched last night and whether that is about the amount that the respondent would watch on an ordinary week night/ Saturday/ Sunday; hobbies and activities; whether the respondent goes late night shopping and the time usually arrived home after such shopping; attitudes to radio listening; the amount of spoken word material preferred in radio programmes and whether that amount varies according to the time slot; the respondent's plan for the broadcast which is most pleasing; if given the opportunity to plan a program or a series for 3AR, the type of program it would be and the time it would be broadcast; attitude to radio programme and station selection; music preferences; and, newspapers and magazine readership. Background information includes age, sex, education level, occupation, household composition, vote intention, and whether the respondent is willing to be reinterviewed. Data refers to period from 7 September, 1978 to 15 September, 1978
