Stanford University sequenced the Cryptococcus neoformans var. neoformans strain B-3501A (serotype D) genome using whole genome shotgun (WGS) sequencing. They also end-sequenced BAC clones from a B-3501A BAC library, including both ends of 2,378 clones and a single end of 443 clones. The high-quality Cryptococcus neoformans B-3501A draft genome assembly consists of 70 contigs that have been placed into 14 scaffolds representing the 14 chromosomes; most of the unassembled regions are composed of repeat elements from the rDNA and centromeric regions. Stanford University has annotated predicted protein-coding genes on the Cryptococcus neoformans B-3501A genome.
