This study examined gene expression and alternative splicing in rice roots and shoots with and without exhagenous cytokinin. More genes were differencially expressed in the roots than in the shoots. Some genes responded to cytokinin in both tissues but the direction or magnetude of the chagne differed by tissue. Cytokinin treatment altered gene expression but did not induce any changes in splicing. The majority of DE genes tested were confirmed by Nanostrings. Comparison with microarry data sets identified a "golden list" of cytokinni response genes in rice.
