Two new coordination polymers [Y<sub>2</sub>(BPTC)(AcO)<sub>2</sub>(DMA)<sub>2</sub>] (<b>1</b>, DMA = N,N-dimethylacetamide) and [Ba<sub>2</sub>(BPTC)(H<sub>2</sub>O)<sub>5</sub>] (<b>2</b>) were constructed using different metal salts and 3,3′,5,5′‑biphenyltetracarboxylic acid (H<sub>4</sub>BPTC) as building blocks. The resulted coordination polymers were characterized by element analysis and single crystal X-ray crystallography. Furthermore, the <i>in vitro</i> anticancer activity of complexes <b>1</b> and <b>2</b> were studied via the CCK-8 (cell Counting Kit-8 assay) and Annexin V-FITC/PI double staining assay.
