Dataset on Evaluation of Scour Prediction Models Around Twin Bridge Piers in Tandem Arrangement

This dataset supports the study titled “Evaluation of Existing Scour Prediction Models Around Twin Bridge Piers in Tandem Arrangement.” The dataset comprises compiled and processed experimental data used for statistical evaluation and comparative assessment of commonly used scour prediction models. The data were obtained from controlled laboratory flume experiments conducted under clear-water scour conditions by several researchers. The study investigates local scour characteristics around twin bridge piers arranged in tandem configuration, considering varying hydraulic and sediment parameters. The dataset includes input variables such as flow depth, sediment size (d50), pier diameter, pier spacing and flow intensity, along with corresponding observed scour depths. The compiled dataset was used for model evaluation, sensitivity analysis as well as comparative performance assessment of existing empirical and semi-empirical scour prediction equations. All data have been quality-checked and organized in a structured format to facilitate reproducibility and reuse. The dataset can be used for validation of scour prediction models, development of improved predictive tools and further research in bridge hydraulics and sediment transport. This openly accessible dataset is intended to enhance transparency, reproducibility and future research applications in the field of hydraulic engineering.
