Gut microbial characteristics in pancreatic carcinoma patients

This study enrolled a total of 142 individuals, including 54 patients with pancreatic head cancer, 31 patients with pancreatic body and tail cancer, and 57 matched healthy controls. We analyzed gut microbial alterations in clinical PC patients based on 16S rDNA analysis by Miseq Sequencing, and found that the gut microbial diversity was significantly decreased in the patients with pancreatic head cancer or pancreatic body and tail cancer, and the PC patients presented an unique gut microbial profiling. We also identified the key bacteria that was closely associated with pancreatic head cancer or pancreatic body and tail cancer. These findings will provide a novel therapeutic target for precision medicine of pancreatic cancer.
