Transcriptional profiling of eyes from MCMV infected neonatal mice during retinal development

Congenital CMV is the leading cause of congenital infections leading to several different neurological complications including ocular pathology. MCMV infeciton of newborn BALB/c mice is a known mouse model to study human infection. Here we evaluated transcriptional changes caused by the infection in the eye over the course of development from post natal day 5 to 28. Overall design: Balb/c mice were infected with MCMV or injected with PBS (controls) less than 24hrs after birth and whole eyes were collected for RNA extraction on post natal day 5, 10, 15 and 28. 6 eyes from 6 mice were used for each time point. Each sample contains 2 eyes combined.
