The goal of the study that utilized these read data was to identify, if present, SNP loci associated with growth rate and disease resistance in sablefish (Anoplopoma fimbria). Aquaculture protocols are being developed for this teleost species (suborder Cottioidei). Currently 2.5 year-old fish weigh between 2 and 3 kilograms. Susceptibility to Aeromonas salmonicida, which causes frunculosis, also varies within and among families.
