Identificated gene sequence of novel Nocardia. Nocardia

A previously unknown Nocardia was isolated from the lung tissue and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) of a 58-year-old woman with recurrent lung infections in Guangzhou, China. This new Nocardia (named PN-GIRH) proliferated readily in Columbia Blood Agar (CBA) and could induce infiltration of neutrophils in mouse model. It represents a novel Nocardia species and the closest known relatives are Nocardia anaemiae, pseudovaccinii and vinacea. However, different from all previously known species, PN-GIRH is the first to be found with extensive drug resistance of Nocardia spp and may cause great health threats to bronchiectasis and immunocompromised patients. Therefore, we want to determine the genotyping of the novel nocardia.
