We sequence the genomes of the critically endangered fish species Iberochondrostoma lusitanicum and Iberochondrostoma olissiponensis with Nanopore long reads.

Fresh water fish species are highly threatened by human anthropocentric pressures. In this context it is important to learn as much as possible about these species biology so more efficient conservation strategies can be established. One way of doing that is to develop gnomic resources. In this context we are sequencing the genomes from Iberochondrostoma lusitanicum and Iberochondrostoma olissiponensis, that are classified as critically endangered by IUCN red list. This is being done with Nanopore long read technology and financially supported by the Org.one initiative.
