Antibacterial screening using Ex Vivo Models. A method to allow detection of oral bacteria that are targets of antibacterials and other microbiome altering agents. The method uses ex vivo testing of effects of test agents on oral bacteria in aggregates as isolated from saliva in a way that produces reproducible results with tests done on different days independent of time of sample acquisition. Uses 16rRNA levels as a readout of agent toxicity/perturbation.
