The Family Health Strategy in the State of Pernambuco: evaluation of team structure by population size

The study aimed to evaluate the structure of Health Family Teams of the state of Pernambuco by population size in the year of 2009. Were applied structured questionnaires to 154 teams, from 24 counties, and evaluated items related to instruments, educational materials, physical space, medicines, vaccines, besides the human resources available. The results showed that the physical spaces of the teams were better evaluated in small-sized municipalities (p=0,032). Only 5,6% of the teams meet all the structure requirements, and the component human resources pointed out the precariousness of the professional bonds, mainly in mid-sized municipalities of the state.
