RNA-seq data for adult dorsal cuticles of Drosophila prolongata and Drosophila carrolli

The study aims to characterize the evolutionary transition of sexually dimorphic pheromone production from a sexually monomorphic pheromone production. Dorsal cuticles containing epithelial cells, pheromone-producing oenocytes, and fat bodies are dissected from 7-day-old adult flies of both sexes of D. prolongata (representing dimorphic) and D. carrolli (representing monomorphic state). 4 biological replicates were made for each sex and species condition, resulting in 16 poly-A selected cDNA libraries. Sequencing was done using Illumina HiSeq4000 under PE-150 mode.
