Eight intermediate short columns were tested in the NCREE Taipei Laboratory. The tests aimed to investigate the seismic behavior of intermediate short columns in shear failure cases with different combinations of structural parameters, such as height-to-depth ratio, transverse reinforcement ratio, and axial load ratio. According to the test results, this paper proposes a lateral load-displacement curve for the intermediate short column failed in shear with a height-to-depth ratio of between 2 and 4. In addition to comparing the proposed curve with the test data in this paper, data from other literature are also used for verification. Test verification indicates that the proposed curve possesses a reasonable prediction, which is helpful for seismic evaluation of existing buildings.
