NRS-21129 | Survey Administration files [Department of Lands]

The survey administration files contain records relating to the administration and management of the Surveyor General's and Survey branches activities. The files have been created by successive departments and Agencies using the file covers and file numbering systems of each department. The files were created for particular activities like Fast Train Routes or damage to survey marks and for particular survey areas. They are primarily administrative records including the requests of surveys, reports and plans created, positioning of control marks, sketch plans, with occasional field book observations and references. The series has been culled over time using approved disposal schedules (both functional and general), so only records required as State archives remain. The files are arranged alphanumerically. There are a variety of numbering systems used over time, including Head Office annual holding file number from Crown Lands, barcode running number from CARMS, LID and TRIM numbers.
