Apidaecin IB (AP IB) is the most potent isoform of apidaecin, which is a type of proline-rich AMPs (PrAMPs) that is produced by bees and wasps in response to bacterial infections. AP2 is a structurally modified version of native AP IB. The aim of this study was to investigate whether AP2 was effective in the prevention of ST infections in animals and whether the antimicrobial peptide AP2 had protective effect against Salmonella Typhimurium (ST) infection by modulating the gut microbiota in mice. Mice were weighed and randomly divided into four groups without significant difference in body weight: Control, AP2, ST and AP2+ST groups, respectively.
