Human mucosa and stool microbiome Targeted loci

This study examined bacterial populations spatially along the human colon. Samples were collected from 20 healthy human subjects who had not undergone bowel preparation prior to the collection colonoscopy. Samples were collected from the proximal (right) and distal (left) colon mucosa and lumen. Subjects also collected stool at home one week prior to the procedure.
