Experiment I: Honey bees were collected 5, 15, or 30 min following an aggressive encounter or interaction with an inanimate object. <i>In situ </i>hybridization for immediate early genes <i>hr38</i> and <i>egr1 </i>was performed on fresh-frozen brain sections cut on a cryostat. <br>Experiment II: Honey bees were collected 15 min following an aggressive, affiliative, or neutral encounter using the same assay above with the addition of a caregiving assay. Same sample processing and analysis was performed.<br>R script provides code for t-tests (Exp I), ANOVA (Exp II) and PCA (Exp II).
