ERGO has sourced two sets of European tree distribution maps. These are:

Tree genus distribution  maps  from the  European Forest Institute, (Brus, D.J., G.M. Hengeveld, D.J.J. Walvoort, P.W. Goedhart, A.H. Heidema, G.J. Nabuurs, K. Gunia, 2011. Statistical mapping of tree species over Europe. European Journal of Forest Research 131 (1): 145–157.).  The direct link is https://efi.int/knowledge/maps/treespecies.  This dataset provides modelled estimates of % cover of tree genera,  and of forest cover as a whole

Individual species distribution maps from the European Atlas of Forest Tree Species (European Commission, Joint Research Centre, Caudullo, G., De Rigo, D., Mauri, A. et al., European atlas of forest tree species, Caudullo, G.(editor), De Rigo, D.(editor), Mauri, A.(editor), Houston Durrant, T.(editor), San-Miguel-Ayanz, J.(editor), Publications Office of the European Union, 2016, https://data.europa.eu/doi/10.2760/776635). The direct link to the data is https://forest.jrc.ec.europa.eu/en/european-atlas/atlas-data-and-metadata/.  Four  sets of data are available:  1) pdf descriptions; 2)  relative probability of presence;  3) habitat suitability; and 4) range maps

These data cannot be redistributed via an open public website,  but can be shared with collaborators.  ERGO has therefore downloaded these files and they are available to e4 project partners on request to [e-mail].
