资源简介:

Qualified Opportunity Zones (QOZ) are areas and communities that have been identified as economically distressed. New investments in these communities, under certain conditions, may be eligible for preferential tax treatment. They were established in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 as a means to increase investment in lower income areas. Qualified Opportunity Zones were nominated and approved by the Secretary of U.S. Treasury. In Alaska, there were 25 census tracts identified. Due to the large geography of Alaska, some tracts are equivalent to organized boroughs, such as the Northwest Arctic Borough, while others are smaller areas within a borough as is the case with the Municipality of Anchorage. Opportunity Zones 2.0 are currently in vetting status. Written Comment Period: April 1- April 30, 2026. Interested parties may also submit written comments to the department April 1 through April 30, 2026. All comments should be emailed to emily.fairbanks@alaska.gov.
