The order Hypocreales is characterized by a dynamic evolutionary history of interkingdom host jumping, with members that parasitize animals, plants, and other fungi. The genus Elaphocordyceps is a group within this clade that parasitizes ectomycorrhizal truffles in the genus Elaphomyces, representing a yet unsampled ecology within the order. To compare the gene space of a truffle pathogen with closely related insect pathogens and more distantly related mycoparasites, we have sequenced the genome of Elaphocordyceps ophioglossoides.
