Dataset for "Anthropogenic Forcing Enhanced Organic Carbon Burial in Subtropical Estuaries since the 1950s"

This dataset accompanies the manuscript “Anthropogenic Forcing Enhanced Organic Carbon Burial in Subtropical Estuaries since the 1950s” submitted to Geophysical Research Letters. It contains high-resolution geochemical, isotopic, and biomarker data from sediment core S26, retrieved from the Pearl River Estuary, South China, spanning the past ~300 years (1710–2019 CE). Measurements include total organic carbon (TOC), total nitrogen (TN), C/N ratios, stable carbon isotopes (δ¹³C_org), and hopane biomarkers, along with calculated organic carbon mass accumulation rates (MAR_OC). In addition, the dataset provides results from a three-end-member Monte Carlo mixing model that resolves contributions from marine phytoplankton, terrestrial C₃ plants, and soils.
