资源简介:
This dataset provides ecological, climatic, and entomological field data
related to the monitoring of ambrosia beetle populations in the Pesio and
Susa valleys, NW Italy, across two years (2024 and 2025). The dataset
comprises 1,680 observations and 36 variables, structured to facilitate
the analysis of beetle trapping data in relation to environmental and
habitat parameters. The data are provided in a tabular format where key
variables include temporal and spatial identifiers (year, date, area,
city, trap ID, and trapping replicate) alongside localised climatic
averages (temperature and precipitation). The habitat context is deeply
characterised by the type of environment (chestnut orchard vs. mixed
environment), the specific trap placement relative to the forest edge
(interior vs. exterior), and the surrounding tree community composition
(quantified for multiple tree species such as Castanea sativa, Prunus
avium, Betula pendula, among others). The biological response variables
consist of individual count values for specific beetles, recorded under
the columns: Ad (Anisandrus dispar), Xc (Xylosandrus crassiusculus), Xg
(Xylosandrus germanus), Xs (Xyleborinus saxesenii), Xm (Xyleborus
monographus), Am (Anisandrus maiche), collected from the traps. This
dataset holds high reuse potential for researchers in entomology, forest
ecology, and climate impact studies. The data can be integrated into
broader meta-analyses, used to model the population dynamics and phenology
of ambrosia beetles, or employed to investigate how forest edges, local
tree biodiversity, and climatic factors influence beetle distribution. It
provides a robust baseline for monitoring potential invasive pests or
studying forest health management strategies.
