Enterobacter hormaechei strain:UW0SKVC1 Genome sequencing and assembly

Enterobacter hormaechei is part of Enterobacter cloacae complex (ECC) and it is a medically relevant facultatively-anaerobic Gram-negative bacterium. ECC is ubiquitous and can cause opportunistic and nosocomial infections, but also harbors several important genetic traits of industrial importance such as biodegradation of xenobiotics, ferments a wide range of sugars, and biosynthesizes value added chemicals such as 2,3-butanediol. Genetic manipulation of the pathogen island and metabolic pathways may help to better harness the industrial potential of this organism.
